PRINCIPAL CITIES OF
SAUDI ARABIA

The capital of Saudi Arabia. Population estimated
at over one million. Located in the central Najd Province. It is the
location of all foreign embassies.
JEDDAH
Saudi Arabia's major western port and commercial center. Population
estimated at 1,200,000. Located on the Red Sea midway between Aden
and Duez, Jeddah is also the main port of entry for pilgrims visiting
the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
MECCA
Holiest of the three Holy Cities of Islam, Mecca is the city towards
which Muslims kneel in prayer five times daily. As the spiritual center
of the religion, Mecca is the city to which millions of Muslims make
the annual pilgrimage (Haj). Non-Muslims are not permitted to enter
this city.
DAMMAM
An important commercial and port city located in the Eastern province
on the Arabian Gulf.
TAIF
A mountain city in the Hijaz Mountains near Mecca and Jeddah, Taif
is the summer capital.
DHAHARAN
Located ten kilometers inland from Dammam, Dhaharan is the home of
the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO).
