The King Faisal Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh is JCIA accredited and operates 677 Beds with approximately 8,700 employees. In all there are 63 different nationalities making up the staff. KFSH&RC is a state of the art tertiary medical and research facility serving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the surrounding region. Located in the capital city of Riyadh, the hospital is the national referral center for Oncology, Organ Transplantations, Cardiac Surgery, Genetic Diseases, and more. The Hospital has gained a worldwide reputation for it's dedication to advancing medical science and research over the past 29 years and has established collaborative relationships with internationally recognized institutions.

Protocol Program
KFSH&RC staff is committed to providing their patients with excellent medical and nursing care. It is the hospital's belief that outstanding patient care begins with a partnership between the patient and the medical and nursing staff.

Patient Affairs
The Division of Patient Affairs is striving to provide patient-centered care. It includes the Appointment, Medical records, Social and Ambulatory Care Services.

Total Quality Management
The Quality Assurance Department is to be the preferred source in the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center for results-oriented, project-specific quality improvement tools to empower all personnel to streamline common and complex patient care and support management tasks. The goal is to facilitate each department's success to the benefit of the patients.

There are 18 Medical Departments each with it's own Chairperson, a total of 692 medical staff, 1,942 nursing staff and 1,235 clinical services employees working together to provide quality service to patients.

blues square bullet  TECHNICAL AND RESEARCH AFFAIRES

Telepathology
Telepathology, a subspecialty of E-Health, involves the use of telecommunication technology to transmit images to distant sites for the purpose of communicating diagnostic information or for teaching. Recent advances in technology have greatly increased the feasibility of performing diagnosis by telepathology, but there are still significant obstacles to overcome.

Teleradiology
Teleradiology is offered in collaboration with the Radiology department. This service provides transmission of diagnostic quality radiographic images and rapid interpretation by our qualified radiologists.

Interactive Distance Learning Programs
Interactive distance learning programs, such as grand rounds and other special conferences, are offered through videoconferencing technologies.

Videoconferencing
This is available for patient consultation, remote diagnosis, and patient care in all clinical specialties.

blues square bullet  TRANSPORTATION

Driving
In Saudi Arabia, driving is on the right-hand side of the road. A Saudi Driver's license will be issued only to males holding a valid driver's license from their country of origin. All applicants are required to take a blood test and an eye-test. Women are not permitted to drive in Saudi Arabia.

Public Transport
There are buses operating in Riyadh but are generally for men only. Taxis are relatively cheap and plentiful and most drivers do speak English. Women should always sit in the back. There is another type of taxi, the yellow Saudi taxi, where the price is fixed by negotiation.

KFSH&RC's Transportation Services operate a shuttle bus system within the hospital compounds and its surrounding residential complexes. Scheduled bus runs are also provided to various shopping areas throughout the city.
